I consider it a privilege to meet with children, adolescents and adults during the difficult times of their lives. I find life to be a journey my many elements. I like meeting with people where they are, giving them validation and teaching them techniques for soothing and safety. I enjoy matching specific therapeutic interventions with art activities and modified parts of yoga to assist clients with exploring and describing their lives, while learning and practicing skills that can lead to the changes they want.
Who I Am
For 20 years, I have worked as a licensed marriage and family therapist, with a master’s degree in counseling psychology, a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science/chemical dependency, an associate degree in human services, and multiple units in various studio art. I also taught ceramics at an associate level at a local community college for four years.
I’ve facilitated traditional therapy interventions along with expressive art therapy in non-profit community and county agencies, in elementary, middle and high school settings, as well as in client homes, juvenile detention, adult residential and outpatient alcohol & drug treatment centers, and I have facilitated day workshops in mountain wilderness areas.
My clients have ranged between the ages of 3 and 80. They have come from diverse walks of life.
Ten years ago I added and started teaching the skills from yoga teacher and yoga therapy certification. That allowed me to address client’s physical and neurological issues of anxiety, pain, depression and anger that could be altered with modified yoga. I have observed the improved outcomes from mine and my client’s efforts in building their skills for reducing or eliminating those symptoms, while increasing client’s control and sense of well-being.
Recently I decided to start a private practice, while broadening services that will be offered online.
